Matcha is green tea in a concentrated powder form.

Green tea contains high levels of polyphenols, which are potent antioxidants, as well as the powerful compound Epigallocatechin gallate.

Epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG for short, is the well researched compound in green tea which has shown to offer protection against some degenerative diseases.

Green tea has shown to increase fat burning, metabolic rate, reduce bad breath and is associated with improved dental health.

 

Ingredients:

Serves 1

  • 1 cup brown rice milk (naturally sweet)
  • 1 teaspoon Matcha powder
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk, soy milk, rice milk, or cow’s milk
  • 1 teaspoon Matcha powder
  • 1 tsp honey (optional)

Method:

  1. Bring 3/4 milk to simmer in a small pot over medium-high heat.
  2. Place 1 tsp of Matcha powder in a heatproof mug.
  3. Slowly whisk in 1/4 cup boiling water, then combine with the milk; tipping the cup slightly
    to help create more foam.
  4. Sweeten with honey if needed.
